Gato Mikio is an atelier of high-quality, fine-grain wood turning with more than a century of history. It was established in Yamanaka onsen, Japan. Yamanaka is one of the biggest and oldest producing area of lacquerware.
With the inherited skill of lacquerware, they produce useful and beautiful lacquerware for contemporary life style. Yamanaka lacquerware is characterized by accurate wood turning.
Gato Mikio Co. Ltd was founded by Komakichi Gato in 1908 in the Yamanaka Kaga Onsen area in Ishikawa Prefecture. Ishikawa prefecture has a 450-year long history of lacquerware product and has an ideal environment for its’ production.
